Rising gas prices are becoming a major issue in this election, and Newt Gingrich has thus far been the only candidate to take advantage of American angst on the issue – on Twitter.
On February 24, the the Gingrich campaign started using the #250Gas hashtag as part of his overall campaign and the results have been very positive.

Number of tweets: 40,187.
Number of users tweeting using the #250Gas hashtag: 8,702.
We estimate the number of impressions for the hashtag at 8,037,400.
Clearly, this issue is resonating with Twitter users.
